Dry Core Drilling With Bayonet System

This section contains product suitable for dust extracted dry drilling of soft to medium hard masonry.

Using a dry core with a dust extraction unit can increase the life of the core by upwards of 40% and improve the chances of retipping due to reduced ware on the barrel walls.

Cores in this section should not be used on asphalt, hard natural stone like granite/flint or dense reinforced concrete with high concentrations of rebar.

Please go to the Multiswivel System or Wet Core Bits For Hire & Pro Contractors sections for cores suitable to wet drill hard masonry and reinforced concrete..

What quality should I choose?

Dry Core Drilling With Female Threaded Cores

This section contains product suitable for dry drilling soft to medium hard masonry. Slotted cores are for use without dust extraction.

Unslotted cores can be used both with or without dust extraction.

Using a dry core with a dust extraction swivel can increase the life of the core by upwards of 40% and improve the chances of retipping due to reduced ware on the barrel walls.

Cores in this section should not be used on asphalt, hard natural stone like granite/flint or dense reinforced concrete with high concentrations of rebar.

Please go to the Multiswivel System or Wet Core Bits For Hire & Pro Contractors sections for cores suitable to wet drill hard masonry and reinforced concrete.

Multiswivel Patented Wet & Dry Drilling System

This section contains product suitable for dry drilling soft to medium hard masonry with dust extraction and wet drilling of hard masonry using the same set of cores and accessories.

This is achieved by using Strata tipped cores with the Multiswivel Unit in either dry or wet mode.

Strata tips have the very latest layered diamond technology which results in the cores cutting a wider range of materials without glazing and with very good life.

Wet Core Bits For Hire & Pro Contractors

This section contains product for wet drilling all types of masonry. Core bits can be supplied in three different grades for both Standard and Premium quality ranges.

Use Standard Range wet cores for small drilling jobs were speed not life is the important criteria and Premium Range wet cores where speed and long life are required.

  • G Bond wet cores should be used on very hard materials like granite /flint or heavily reinforced concrete.
  • C Bond wet cores on medium to hard materials and lightly reinforced concrete.
  • A Bond wet cores on very abrasive materials like sandstone and asphalt.

Core bits are available with ½” BSP male drives in small diameters for mounting on light weight drilling machine and rigs and in 1 ¼ UNC male threads for heavy duty machines and rigs.

All core bits manufactured by Duradiamond can be returned for retipping. Send your used barrels back to Bonnybridge for inspection by our engineering staff who will provide you with a report and quotation.

We are also able to retip most of our competitors barrels with Duradiamond tips.

What Quality Should I choose when Dry Drilling?

Tradesmen who only dry drill occasionally should purchase universal quality product but those drilling on a daily basis should consider purchasing premier quality cores.

Universal quality Strata cores should be purchased for drilling medium to hard masonry like engineering bricks or very dense concrete blocks.

If you know the type of material you will be coring then look through the grades on offer and choose the one that best suits your needs.

If you do not know what you will be cutting and your drilling machine is rated 1000W or less then assume the material is hard and select S Bond tips.

If you do not know what you will be cutting but your area has a predominance of medium to hard engineering bricks then purchase the Premier Strata Bond tips.

What Quality Should I choose with Multiswivel?

Standard Strata Cores are designed to be used mostly dry with dust extraction and for occasional wet use. They are ideally suited for tradesmen who mostly dry drill soft masonry but occasionally come across hard natural stone or lightly reinforced concrete panels during their day to day activities. Dry drilling with dust extraction increase the life of the core by upwards of 40% and improve the chances of retipping due to reduced ware on the barrel walls. Wet drilling is nearly always much faster than dry and should be used on all materials where dry drilling takes too long.

Premium Strata Cores are designed to be used mostly wet and for occasional dry use with dust extraction. They are ideally suited for tradesmen who work in areas containing a predominance of hard engineering bricks, medium to hard natural stone or reinforced concrete.

Dry drilling with dust extraction can be carried out on internal walls which are generally softer brick or block and then switching to wet for the external hard walls. Dry drilling can be carried out with 240V or 110v drilling motors but wet drilling must be carried out with 110V machines only and fitted with an inline RCD (Residual Current Device).

It is possible to drill hand held with Multiswivel in soft masonry up to 162mm in diameter and wet in lightly reinforced concrete up to 107mm diameter. For wet drilling very hard materials or holes over 107mm diameter in medium to hard materials Multiswivel should be used with a recommended drill rig and motor.

Cores in this section should not be used on very dense reinforced concrete with high concentrations of rebar. Please go to the Wet Core Bits For Hire & Pro Contractors sections for cores suitable to wet drill very hard masonry and heavily reinforced concrete.
